Hamza Shiban is a photographer and video editor with a background and profession in media and communications, based in Perth, Western Australia. He is a co-founder at #SupportYemen Arts Collective, where he worked on social justice, advocacy campaigns and short documentary films. He volunteered and freelanced in several countries between Middle East, East Asia and Australia, which enriched his professional experience with skills in storytelling, photography, filmmaking, media project management and communications. Among the organizations that he volunteered, worked and freelanced for were HYProducts, eRomman, Royal Perth Events, DeepRoot, Afro1, Resonate! Yemen, Arabic Post New Arab, Saferworld, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Oxfam, British Council, and Google at a range of events. He was the managing and video editor of al-Madaniya online magazine that is specialized in Yemen's literature, culture and civil society. He had the opportunity to be trained by the Scottish Documentary Institute and is a member of the Australian Screen Editors.
Currently, He is the communications coordinator for Human Appeal Australia, Perth, undertaking an Advanced Diploma in Digital Cinema at North Metropolitan TAFE and working his way to become a film editor.
He holds a Master's Degree in Media Studies from University of Malaya.
